We are back home and settling in to our daily routines like sleeping in all my favorite spots. Still snow on the ground so I DO NOT want to go for a walk...(are you listening, Mom). MM and MD gave me a pink camo hoodie for when I do go out! I do like our morning habit of looking out all the windows to see if any critters are out and about. Just give me a nice warm spot to cuddle.

Our cousins in the northwest just lost their furbaby suddenly...a 6 month old pup named Abby sadly passed over the bridge unexpectedly in the arms of her young people-brother. Our hearts go out to the family (5children, another furbaby dog, parrots, and mom and dad).

It's been so warm this past week that I want MM to take me walking all the time. We do try to walk two times a day. Today the deer came to our backyard watering hole for a drink...so big! Wonder if they would like to play? MD saw a big cat down our hill, and tracks and big cat poop! Now I'd like to see that!

Yesterday we had a little snow, but this morning we woke up to a lot of snow and not much visibility. MM tried to get me to go out in it but I told her "no thanks". Tested it yesterday and was not to thrilled with the cold on my footsies. Guess it is pretty to look at but SOOO cold.

MM and MD ganged up on me today and put 'nail caps' on my front toeses!! I'm not quite sure why except they said something about the new sofa! I had just gotten the old sofa the way I wanted it...all comfy and slightly worn around the edges. I do have several scratching posts that are good too, but the sofa shredded so nicely! Well, we will see how this works out and maybe I can figure out how to get the caps off. Any hints will be greatly appreciated.

Our new home is really great with lots of windows, and lots of birds, and deer and stuff! I keep telling MM that I want to go outside and I really try to walk around but the grass looks so good...gotta nibble. MM and MD let me find my own napping spots so I picked out a few...a closet at night and under the computer desk when the sun shines there. I also like the rocking chair by MD in the living room. It's hard not to get to be an outside cat and I nag enough but they say there are too many bigger critters that might get me.

I pulled a good trick on them this morning while they were out on the deck. I climbed up on my condo and then jumped to the upper windows above the door and walked back and forth over the beams to the window sills. You should have seen their faces!! MD got my picture up there. Cool, but kind of scarey too!

It's crazy around here! MM and MD have been pulling everything out of closets, drawer, cabinets and putting it all in boxes. I kind of stay out of the way so they don't put me in a box. Today was an off day for me...just kind of cranky and needy. I wanted MM to sit with me all day and she was busy doin' silly stuff like ironing and washing and stuff. Finally she sat down for a little while but then had to fix dinner. Think she was frustrated with me because she got out my 'calming collar' and made me wear it. But I also got some catnip too. Guess it's the heat (or just a moody day).

Got home from our interesting vacation after a lot of watching out the windows since we didn't get to hike this time. It was too windy and too smokey in the valley. Smoke was coming all the way from Arizona to Colorado...hack hack. But something exciting did happen! MM and MD signed a contract on a house there and it looks like I'm to be a mountain cat soon. No more hot Texas summers, but will have to learn about cold, snowy winters. Will let you all know how things progress.

Having a lazy morning just napping, bathing, and watching MM. She did something to me...took an old wet cloth and rubbed it all over me! The indignity of it! Now I have to start my bath all over again. And she's talking 'mani-pedi'...what the heck is that?

There is some bad weather on it's way and maybe more lightening and thunder so I have to find a nice safe place to spend the afternoon/evening. Right now the air is very heavy and cloudy-yuck! Well, here she comes with the clippers so it's time to head for my hideaway. Later!

With so much time spent sleeping and keeping warm lately, I have been thinking ....

Why do our people put on so many clothes and go outside with all that white cold stuff that's everywhere? And take pictures of it...the stuff just lays there bein' COLD!

Where did MM get the idea that I would like to go out and get my toesies cold and wet?

Why don't my MM and MD just curl up with me in a nice sunny spot IN the house and nap for a while?

Where does tuna come from?

And where does my ping pong ball go when I'm playing with it? Sometimes it just disappears and the MM has to hunt all over the house for it. hmmm

Well, that's enough thinkin' for today. GOT to find that ball!

Tomorrow is supposed to get REALLY, REALLY COLD so MM layed in my supplies (and some of theirs too) 'cause we don't drive on ice! Hope everyone in the path of this cold stays in and keeps warm. The granddaughter of the family is in Denver where it is already -6*! Meeeooww!

I'm back after a brief break for the holidays. Today is a good day to sit in the sunlight and watch the squirrels in the yard. They have been running and digging all over our yard and the next one. It's very cold so we are staying in.
I've been playing with my ping pong ball and jingley ball, eating a little catnip, and chasing feather toys to keep busy between naps (in bed, of course). Now we will get busy catching up on all our floofy friends. Have a warm day!

Today started off furry nicely as I cuddled with MM in bed for a while. She scritched my neck and ears sooo good. Quiet day at home by myself for most of the day. MM went to her mom's so I just slept all over the house, and played with some toys. My uncle, MM's brother, made me a new scratching post that is really cool so I broke that in a little too.

MM has been reading Cat Fancy and getting some ideas about my diet. She has been trying some new 'healthier' foods, and we discovered that I kinda' like chicken (at least for a while). Mostly I have only wanted fish stuff but guess trying new things is ok, too.

Home From the Hills

After many days in the mountains, we finally came home tonight. It was beeautifullll there and I had some fun new adventures. Besides our hiking, MM fixed it so I could stay outside without her worrying about me getting into trouble. I have my own play yard/tent. We watched the ground squirrels and chipmonks and some new birdies that I had never seen before. They flew right down in my face and watched me too. At night I slept with MM and MD usually under the covers by their feet as it got sorta cold.
Also chased grasshoppers and ate grass...ooh, puuuurrrssss! So fun.

Gettin' out of town and away from the heat

It's time to head for the hills and away from all this hot! I'm packing up and going to Colorado. Got my halter, leash, and carsick pill (myucky!). Yesterday I got to stalk a wild salamander (I think) in MM and MD's bedroom. We don't know how it got there but it's the second one in the last week that got into the house. Anyway, I pounced on that critter and chased it around the bed. It was very tiny but ferocious-well, sorta irritated maybe. But I got him! Grrrr

We haven't been online for a while. MM says we caught a virus and had to send the computers to the doctor to be debugged. Think she was going through withdrawall last week. But we are back! Today I am following MM around the house as she scoops out stuff and moves everything around. Seems we are having a big party soon for all the birthday beans in our family...a bunch! When she slows down, I play with my little white ball, and check out some of the things she has pulled out. At least she is home for a while. Too hot to go anywhere anyway. Stay cool, y'all.

Reeowr! Outside there is lots of booming but no rain yet. Had a really loud cracking boom and lots of rain. We all jumped and the lights went out.
Earlier we found some cool animals in our backyard so MM took their pictures. There were two baby bluejays and a tired squirrel. And we saw some butterflies,too, but they are too fast to get pictures. Hadn't seen my lizard buddy in a while. It's fun to look around out there, but awful hot now.

Later I found a new napping place in MM T-shirt drawer. She accidentally left it open..ha ha.

Today I have a few complaints to share with friends. (1)My favorite window shelf fell down 2 weeks ago and NO ONE has fixed it yet! (2)Why can't I have MM and MD's tuna...it's better than what I get! (3)Why can't my MM stop what she is doing to listen to me and play with me all the time? (4) And please SCOOP when I remind you (MM) that it's time! MM should understand what "MMREEOOWWWWW!!!" means by now.

Today was the test run for my new Calming Collar. Don't know how calm I was going to see my kitty doctor tho'. I voiced my displeasure all the way there for all the good it did. Once we got there, I moved to the very back of my carrier and stayed there as long as I could. The doctor's assistant weighed me, poked me, and stuck me...reeoww! Then she announced that I am now a 'mature cat'. Excuse me? MM was no help at all. She said that we could be old ladies together! Purrlease! I am NOT old. Of all the nerve.

I was quiet going home and very happy to find a nice spot at home where I could think this over and regain some feline dignity. (And watch for my lizard in the sunlight.)

So warm today. I want to play and run and nap in the sun.
Told MM all about it but she thought I was just bein' whiney! Oh, well, it was ok 'cause she gave me a good brushing and a cuddle.

Last week MM bought a new 'calming collar' for me to try when we have to ride in the car. Maybe it will make me feel better when I gotta ride. We will report on the results soon in case some other floofies want to try one during stressful times.

Today MM has been sorting through some old photos and trying to clean out some stuff. I thought about helping but the window ledge called to me so after checking out how things were going, I decided to nap and enjoy the quiet. She interupted me to show me some pictures of my predecessors...so many floofies!! MM must be really OLD to have had so many kitties! And she says that's not all of them...just can't find pictures of them all. I can see in her eyes how much she loved them and misses each one so guess I'll cuddle her a little to make her feel better.

Nothin' to do today so I keep talking to MM about it but she just sits in her chair sleeping or watching Animal Planet. She had to see her people doctor yesterday and has to take it easy but this is ridiculous...I want to play! Well, maybe I can find something to do. My people seem to have had a great time on New Year's Day when they also had their family Christmas. I couldn't go 'cause Sparky, Zoe, and I don't get along, and the party was at their house. But I got a present when MM and MD came home! Really fun cube thingy! MM put some catnip inside it and I just went crazy...so much fun!
Today we've been cuddling a lot to keep warm. North Texas is having a really cold spell this week. But we're going to play and have fun staying inside. Hide and seek!! Picture of Sparky as Santa Claws, Zoe, and me in my cube.

Quiet Christmas

We had a quiet little Christmas morning with just MM, MD, and me. I got lots of fun tissue paper to play with. There will be a family Christmas on New Years day but I won't get to go to that one!
Last night MM and MD came home and were in a very quiet sad state. Their sister-in-law was in a very serious accident. Please remember her in your prayers. She is going to have a very long recovery ahead of her.

What a furry nice start to the week...MM and I slept in and cuddled in a nice,warm,soft blanket this morning. After quick snack, I found a sunny spot on my living room tree and slept some more. Found MM and let her know it was time to check on all our blogging furrfriends to see what everyone is doing.
MM put some more decorations out that belong to MD...his nutcracker collection. They are now in the front window with the 'lectric candles. Shall I see if I can knock them down??? Meeooowwha-ha-ha!

New Boy in the family

We have a new little boy floofy in the family. MM's mother adopted a cute little furbaby last Friday and named him Maximum (Max). He's got very unique coloring and is very sweet and cuddly and playful, or so I've been told. I won't get to meet him until he is thoroughly checked out with the vet. The proud parent is so happy to have a new, sweet kitten after the loss of her last furchild in Sept. '08. As usual, the new kitten brightens up the whole household.

MM attempted to make me a Halloween costume today...did not turn out well. I was supposed to look like a pink leopard but apparently she is not much of a seamstress! At least not for cats. There are birdies singing but they are hidden in the trees.
MM and I played in the floor with my sparkly toy on a stick, and I also got a good rub-down and fluff-up. At lunch there was some nice nibbles with catnip on the side...mmmmeeow! That's so good.
Got to go now and get some more sunbeams on my fur and face... and dream of happy little fishies!

forgotten Fri. and Silly Saturday

OOPS! Things were busy around here yesterday and my blog got put at the bottom of the list! MM and MD were getting stuff ready for the grandson's birthday and I tried to help but mostly just wanted a little attention here in the Floofie corner. Also gave them my most pitiful Meeooww which at least got me a quick headrub and hug.
Today I've just been sleepin' here and there, and tossing out a meeoow once in a while to remind certain peoples that I'm here. MM held me up to see out the back door but there aren't any birds or squirrels or nothin' out there. Where are all my furry and feathered friends? Did all the rains wash 'em away? Guess I'll just go take another nap, or a quick snack, and wait for something to happen around here.

Thrilling Thursday (not)

Had a good start to my morning with chin scritching and head rubs, then MM says she's going out and will be back later....so I get to listen to crummy radio noise all afternoon and watch it rain. That wasn't fun. But she doesn't know what I do when she is gone...so that IS fun. I get to inspect lots of things, and sleep wherever I want. Fortunately I can walk through and around her stuff without knocking things over so she never can tell where I have been.

When she came home we had a good roll in the floor with lots of back scratching and tummy rubbing. So guess that's not so bad after all.
